About the role

Plenty is looking for a Senior Field Engineer to join our Deployment team.  The Deployment team oversees Plenty’s deployment projects from planning, preconstruction activities, procurement, simulation, installation, commissioning, and turnover to customers.  In this role, you will be responsible for deploying software (PlentyOS) in Plenty’s future farms and integrating the software layer with the physical and control layers. This is a highly collaborative role and requires physical presence on-site of the farms that are being deployed.

What you'll do

  • Create and maintain a detailed software qualification test plan for the farm to be deployed
  • Execute the software qualification test plan and integrate the software layer (PlentyOS) with the physical and control layers
  • Uncover and report on issues as they arise in commissioning of Plenty farms
  • Add detailed notes on how to reproduce issues when creating tickets for the Software team
  • Learn how to use PlentyOS proficiently and triage issues as they come up in tests with possibility to escalate to subject matter experts in the Software team if deemed necessary
  • Leverage PlentyOS in simulation-mode to get familiar with and test as much of the expected behaviors ahead of the deployment as possible
  • Configure PlentyOS for different domains
  • Troubleshoot common camera issues, i.e. disconnection, wrong focus or orientation

What you'll bring to the table

  • An individual who is well-versed in technical aspects of field projects, including machinery and equipment
  • An individual who thrives working in a team environment
  • An analytical mind and strong problem-solving ability
  • Understanding of safety guidelines
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering relevant to our industry
  • Can read and understand Java, Python code to some extent
  • Knowledge of logging. log levels, can read and understand a stack trace.
  • Previous experience coding a bonus but not mandatory
  • Familiarity with tools like DataDog, NewRelic, AWS Cloudwatch
  • Min 4-5 years total experience, with two of them being in a field-related setting
  • Ability to travel extensively and be present on-site for duration of each farm deployment
  • Excellent problem-solving skills backed by solid technical knowledge
  • A versatile and service-oriented mindset
  • Good understanding of safety guidelines
  • Great communication skills
  • Technically savvy and computer literate
  • Strong multitasking abilities
  • An individual who has experience with deployment of software and configuring software for new clients
  • An individual who has experience with deployment of software in a highly controls automated environment
  • An individual who has experience interfacing control systems and industrial manufacturing is a good to have
  • Being a team player, wanting to learn and have fun while at it
